While I typically focus on studio photography, I recently had the honor of visiting Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL, to capture a Fresh 48 session. Remembering New Beginnings with Fresh 48 Photography
The particular gallery I am sharing with you today was extra special to me. I’ve had the honor of photographing this growing family for more than 7 years now. This mama was one of the first to know I was pregnant with my first baby! She showed up bright and early one day for Easter portraits of her oldest son, to find me hiding behind my vehicle because morning sickness was kicking my butt!
Personal Connections to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL
In addition, Thomas Hospital holds a special place in my heart too. —I delivered my own baby there in 2018. Walking into my client’s postpartum room provided a sense of de-ja-vu, as it was the exact room I was in after delivering my daughter.
It was a sweet reminder of just how fast time flies! It blew my mind, and melted my heart, to think that it was pushing 8 years since I had been in that particular room. It was hard for me to wrap my head around all of the feelings and memories that came flooding back in as I stepped foot into the room. My delivery was a scary one, and we faced many hardships with our newborn. Having our portraits done wasn’t even an option, as she was quickly separated from me for special care.
Yet, the room was still a reminder of love and happiness. It held me, my husband, and our extended family members as we gathered in celebration and in prayer. I think being back in that room, with a healthy baby and a healthy mama, healed a part in me that I didn’t realize was broken.
