As a mother I’ve faced the physical changes that come with pregnancy and motherhood, and one of the most impactful experiences for me has been discovering pelvic floor therapy in Mobile, AL. If you’ve read any of my blogs, you know that I am a very proud mother of three wonderful girls. What you may not know is… my last daughter weighed almost ELEVEN POUNDS. I’m not sure how I ever fit her in my womb, but I did. I also birthed her vaginally, which definitely came with a few complications.

Among those complications, was a broken hip. Yep, she broke my hip! I’ll say that again, because years later I am still baffled at it – I broke my hip in childbirth! What’s even more insane is the fact that I walked around on that broken hip for three months before we accidently discovered the healed break in a CAT scan!

Of course, I quickly called my OBGYN to let her know and she immediately pulled my file to look at it for herself. “Woah….” she breathed into the phone. Then, she quickly encouraged me to continue to take things slow, making sure I gave my body plenty of time to rest and recover, and informed me she would be sending in a referral for pelvic floor therapy and wanted me to be seen ASAP.

What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?

Pelvic floor therapy focuses on strengthening and rehabilitating the pelvic muscles, which support your bladder, bowel, and uterus. For many women, especially postpartum, these muscles can become weakened or damaged, leading to discomfort, incontinence, or even pain. I never realized how crucial the pelvic floor is to overall well-being until I started experiencing the differences it made in my body. I often tell people that pelvic floor therapy corrected issues that I didn’t even know I had.

How Pelvic Floor Therapy Helped Me

Pelvic floor therapy was a life saver for me. Through targeted exercises and hands-on techniques, I regained strength and control over muscles I didn’t even realize needed attention. The therapy improved my posture, relieved back pain (back pain that I thought was a mattress issue), and even helped reduce discomfort during physical activities. I felt empowered knowing I was taking care of a part of my body that had been neglected for too long. It wasn’t just about physical improvement—pelvic floor therapy gave me back my confidence and made everyday life more manageable.

Why Every Mom Should Consider Pelvic Floor Therapy

If you’re a mom, especially postpartum, and you’re dealing with discomfort or unexpected changes in your body, I highly recommend exploring pelvic floor therapy. It’s a safe, non-invasive solution that can drastically improve your quality of life. Whether you’re struggling with incontinence, back pain, or general pelvic discomfort, therapy offers targeted relief. Don’t suffer in silence or assume it’s just part of motherhood—pelvic floor therapy is life changing.
